The Humanscale World LM Chair, designed by renowned industrial designer Niels Diffrient, combines sophisticated ergonomic performance with a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Developed as a streamlined evolution of the original World chair, World LM uses fewer components while retaining Humanscale’s signature weight-sensitive recline and innovative Form-Sensing Mesh technology.
Designed to provide intuitive support without a complicated array of levers and controls, the World LM automatically responds to the sitter's body weight and movement. The result is a chair that encourages natural movement and provides comfortable support throughout the working day.
Intelligent ergonomic design
At the heart of the World LM is its tri-panel Form-Sensing Mesh backrest. Inspired by the way clothing conforms to the body, the low-stretch mesh adapts to the contours of the sitter's back, helping provide personalised lumbar support while allowing air to circulate.
The chair's weight-sensitive recline mechanism automatically adjusts resistance according to the user's body weight, allowing the sitter to recline and move naturally without having to manually adjust tension controls. The backrest can provide 17° of recline, plus 8° of backrest tilt, supporting a range of working positions.
The World LM can be specified with either an all-mesh seat or a sculpted upholstered foam seat, giving businesses and home-office users the flexibility to choose the comfort and appearance that best suits their environment. Adjustable armrests are also available, while the lightweight construction makes the chair particularly easy to move and relocate.
